SA Archers Excel at National Championships

Our State Team of Andrew Kuchel, Chris Drown, Pat Coghlan, Ian Dall, Greg Opie (back row), and Chris de Mello,  Shirley Biggs, Rory Blake and Graham Potts (front row) were joined in Morwell by Nicky Stuut, David Barnes, Attila Balla, Michael Blake, John Vine Hall and Phillip Tremelling for the National Championships 3rd - 7th November.

Our relatively small contingent really outperformed to bring home a total of 26 medals (8 gold, 11 silver and 7 bronze). Congratulations to our medal winners:

A very honourable mention to Rory Blake who at 15 years old, shooting in the Open Male Compound class, was able to place 9/25 in the Target, 4/26 in the Field and 5/25 in the Short Distance events.

Congratulations also for record setting performances from Pat Coghlan (Target, Field and Short Distance), David Barnes (Short Distance) and Ian Dall (Target and Short Distance). Pat Coghlan was Best All Round Open Male Compound archer and Ian Dall was Best All Round Veteran Male Recurve archer.

A full team consists of 4 Male and 4 Femaie archers in each discipline (compound and recurve). We only had one female archer so we had a serious handicap in the inter RGB team competition and were only able to place 4th in both competitions. Next year ...
