SA archers punch above their weight at Australian Open!

The SA contingent may have been small – but the results were huge A small contingent of South Australians went to Brisbane for the Australian Open last weekend (3-5 March) and did exceptionally well!There were 5 entrants in a field of over 120, with the SA archers competing in each of the four categories:Male Compound: Pat Coghlan (Victor Harbor AC) – GOLD medalFemale Compound: Sherry Gale (VHAC) – GOLD medal Rhiannon Mills (VHAC) – 5thFemale Recurve: Clare Reuther (Adelaide AC) – SILVER medalMale Recurve: Ian Dall (The Farm Indoor AC) – 17thAdditionally, visiting Icelandic archer (and “honorary South Australian”) Helga Kolbrun Magnusdottir shot a new National Iceland Record score during the Ranking Round and teamed with Sherry Gale to win the Women’s Compound Teams title.Clare Reuther teamed up with compatriots from Interstate to secure the Women’s Recurve Teams event.Pat Coghlan completed the trifecta by helping to secure a National Australian Teams Record score (150 – out of 150!) on his way to contributing to the gold medal for the Men’s Compound Teams event.
