Targeting the Australian Masters Games #Vintage2015 #BetterWithAge And the Wash-up? Five days and an exposition of archery that was enjoyed by all participants. Events run well, results published and friendships renewed or made. What could be better? WA Field – Friday Shepherds Hill Recreation Park was the venue for the (World Archery registered) 24 target Field Event and hosted by Eden Field Archers. The day started quite well, but did warm up with a sting in the tail as the day proceeded. All shooting was over and done with by 1.15 pm and the lunch put on by Eden was enjoyed while results were collated and published. As this was the final archery event (and given the hot weather) local beverages were enjoyed by many. Sheryn Licht of Victoria put in a sterling performance and a (provisional) National Women’s Longbow Record. 3D – Thursday Southern Field Archers at O’Halloran Hill hosted the 3D event over a fittingly challenging 20-target 3D course; with a 3-arrow round in the morning and a 1-arrow round in the afternoon. the day heated up, along with the competition. The lunch break between rounds was enjoyed by all – the Club did a great job with healthy hamburgers and cakes! The medal presentation was held with the elevated view of the Adelaide Plains and beaches in the background. Archers Enjoyed a Cool Day Off – Wednesday The shooting on Tuesday concluded the target event and medals were awarded. The day’s shooting was hampered by a cool south-westerly which, while not as strong as Monday, kept everyone honest. The organisers were also most appreciative of the assistance rendered by everyone to get all all the equipment for the event packed away in record time! Target – Tuesday After enduring 36oC and an unrelenting, hot northerly wind on Monday, conditions are expected to be cooler for the second half and the final day of the target archery event. The wind is still going to be with us unfortunately, but at least the temperature should be kinder. Despite the conditions on Monday, some impressive scores were recorded, including SA’s Sherry Gale with a provisional National Record for Women’s Compound.
